Why Gdansk brands choose Tulum

Closer than you think. Better than offshore.

Poland runs some of the largest sourcing operations in Europe from this coast. For volume moving out of Asia, Colombia offers 0% duty where the rules of origin are met against the 12% Chinese apparel pays, with a factory you can audit in person.

01

0% Duty — vs 12% from China

Colombian apparel entering the EU and UK carries 0% duty under the EU–Colombia and Andean–UK trade agreements, where the rules of origin are met, against the 12% MFN rate Chinese apparel pays. Rates current as of August 2026 and subject to change — we quote landed cost per shipment, not from a chart.

Frequently asked questions

Sourcing from Colombia, the practical way.

Can Tulum Fashions manufacture for brands based in Gdansk, PL?

Yes. Tulum Fashions produces in Medellín, Colombia, and ships full-package orders to Gdansk by air or sea, with transit quoted per shipment. Colombian apparel entering the EU and UK carries 0% duty under the EU–Colombia and Andean–UK trade agreements, where the rules of origin are met, against the 12% MFN rate Chinese apparel pays. Rates current as of August 2026 and subject to change.

What categories does Tulum produce for Gdansk brands?

Focus areas for Gdansk: large retail groups, private label programs, volume relocating out of Asia. We also produce uniforms, medical scrubs, casual wear, and sportswear. Both men's and women's lines.

What is the MOQ for Gdansk brands working with Tulum?

150 units per style. We work in lean manufacturing modules: a module runs one style at a time, and 150 units is what it needs to fill a production day — so we cannot run below it. Colors can be split within that minimum, subject to a dyeing minimum of approximately 80 kg per color. Development pricing on our development page.

How does delivery from Colombia to Gdansk work?

Air and ocean freight from Medellín to Gdansk, PL, with transit quoted per shipment rather than from a chart. Colombian apparel enters the EU at 0% duty under the EU–Colombia Trade Agreement, and the UK under the Andean–UK Agreement, where the rules of origin are met — against the 12% MFN rate on Chinese apparel. Rates as of August 2026, subject to change. Full customs documentation, including the certificate of origin, is included.

Do you charge for development?

Yes, always in advance. US$450 per garment if you arrive with nothing — that covers fabric coolhunting, trims sourcing, your complete tech pack and 1:1 advisory with the founder. US$200 if you bring a complete tech pack, because we still have to source and validate your materials in Colombia. Samples are US$350 per garment and include pattern making, one fit round and grading. Additional fit rounds US$150, extra swatches US$20, shipping paid by the client. Produce 500+ units per style and 50% of the development fee comes back as credit on your production invoice. Full detail on our development page.

Can you match Asian pricing?

Not on unit price at high volume, and we don't try to. We compete on capital efficiency: 0% duty where rules of origin are met, versus the 12% MFN rate on Chinese apparel, 5–6 day air freight instead of weeks at sea, and a 150-unit minimum instead of 500–1,000 per color. Less dead inventory, faster restocks, less capital tied up. (Rates as of August 2026, subject to change.)

What if I only need 50 units?

We're not the right partner at that volume. We'd rather tell you now than after three weeks of sampling.

What can't you produce?

Mulberry silk, leather, footwear, heavy knitwear, technical outerwear, and heavy-wash denim. If the fabric isn't available in Colombia, we're not the right factory for it.

Who will I be working with?

José Olarte, the founder, directly. Six to seven hours behind Central European Time, which still leaves a full shared afternoon. English, same-day replies. One person accountable from first sketch to final delivery.

What sets Tulum apart from a US-based sourcing agency?

We run our own production plant in Medellín — development, pattern making, cutting, sewing, sample room and QC in-house — and scale through a curated network of long-standing allied workshops, with specialized finishing (digital print, sublimation, screen print, embroidery) through dedicated partners. One point of accountability: Tulum. Single point of accountability, full quality control, IP protection, and a relationship that compounds over multiple seasons.

Who this is for

We work with labels that are already selling.

A good fit

  • Your collection is in retail or wholesale today
  • You reorder styles season after season
  • You have tech packs, or a designer who can produce them
  • You need documented fabric origin for customs and compliance

Not yet

  • You are validating a first idea and have not sold yet
  • You need fewer than 150 units of a style
  • You are comparing quotes before you have a design

Nothing wrong with any of that — it is simply earlier than where we are useful. Development starts at US$450 per garment and production at 150 units per style, so the numbers rarely work before a brand is selling.
